Steve Gove received his Ph.D. in business administration from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. He is an Assistant Professor of Management with an emphasis on strategic management. His research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Education, Journal of the Academy of Business Education, and Journal of Quality Management. He has authored multiple case studies on strategic management topics. Dr. Gove’s work has been presented internationally at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society Annual International Conference, Babson College Kauffman Foundation Entrepreneurship Research Conference, and the Annual Meeting of the North American Case Research Association among others.

Dr. Gove’s research interests include the role and effect of top managers in strategy and corporate governance, intersections of philosophy of science and faculty productivity, and management education. He is on the editorial board of Corporate Governance: An International Review and serves as a reviewer for various journals including Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Research Methods, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management Research, and Journal of Management Education. He also reviews papers for national meetings of the Academy of Management and the North American Case Researchers Association. He has received an Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management.

Before joining Virginia Tech in 2008, Dr. Gove was on the faculty at the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. There he taught a range of courses at both the undergraduate and MBA level including strategic management, competitive intelligence, and international management. He also taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Arizona State University’s Main and West campuses. He is a member of the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management, the Southern Management Association, and the North American Case Researchers Association.
