Biography

Steven E. Markham (Ph.D., State University of New York) is the Digges Professor of Entrepreneurship and the Director of the AT&T Center for Scientific Visualization of Organizations.  Before joining the faculty of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in September, 1978, he was a Graduate Honors Fellow at SUNY Buffalo.  He teaches doctoral, masters, and undergraduate classes in the principles and practices of general management, the dynamics of organization behavior, e-management, leadership, entrepreneurship,  managing change, visualization, quality, and multi-level research methods. Dr. Markham is also an active researcher on Topics which help improve organizational effectiveness (organizational configuration and control, visual information displays, absenteeism, MIS utilization, innovation productivity gainsharing and Scanlon plans, intergroup processes, and team building with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator [MBTI]).  He has published more than 100 articles and book chapters in a wide variety of outlets. He has also acted as a consultant to business, government, and non-profit organizations. In 2005 he was awarded the inaugural Pamplin College of Business Career Research Award.  In 2006 he was awarded the Pamplin College of Business Ph.D. Educator Award.
