Biography
Gretchen Lina Schaupp started her doctoral studies in the Department of Management at the Pamplin School of Business in fall 2007. Her focus is in the area of Organizational Behavior and her current research interests include international and expatriate management as well as employee motivation, organizational justice and work-life balance issues.
Before arriving in Blacksburg, Gretchen lived in Germany for eight years. She wrote her master’s thesis at the Siemens Corporation in Erlangen, Germany while creating a balanced scorecard for the corporate logistics department. After that, she was employed at the Volkswagen Corporation in Wolfsburg, Germany for several years. There, she worked in the areas of logistics and production and international marketing and sales. Her international work experience and prior education led her to pursue her Ph.D. Gretchen has international teaching experience and she has just completed the third edition of her book, which is intended to help expatriates with cultural differences while working in Germany.
Gretchen received her B.A. in Foreign Language from West Virginia University, her M.A. in European Management from the University of Applied Sciences in Fulda, Germany, and her M.B.A. from Sheffield Hallam University in Great Britain.
