Biography

Martin C. Schnitzer (Ph.D., University of Florida) is Professor Emeritus of Management.  Before joining the Virginia Tech faculty, he taught at the University of Arkansas and the University of Florida.  He is the author of 22 books and numerous articles and monographs.  He served as an economic policy advisor to Governor John Dalton of Virginia.  He also was a member of the U.S. East-West Trade Commission; the Fulbright Selection Committee; the Virginia Industrial Financing Commission; and task forces under Presidents Nixon and Ford.  He was a member of the Virginia Export Council. He has lectured at the Stockholm School of Economics and the Oskar Lange Academy of Economics in Poland.  His research and teaching interests are in government and business relations and international business.  He also lectured at the Central Planning Institute in Warsaw, Poland and the Karl Marx University of Economics in Budapest, Hungary. He was the recipient of grants from the U.S. Department of Commerce and State Department, Resources for the Future and the American Philosophical Society.  He also received grants to attend summer school programs at the Harvard Business School and the University of Virginia.  He is a former editor of the Virginia Social Science Journal and was listed in Who's Who in the United States and Who's Who in the World. 2006. He was responsible for the development of exchange programs of faculty between Virginia Tech and Poland.
