Dr. Wokutch will not be leading a study abroad program to France in summer 2012. However Reed Kennedy, Department of Management instructor and Director of International Programs for the Pamplin College of Business, will lead a study abroad program in summer 2012.
Biography
Richard E. Wokutch (Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh) is a Pamplin Professor in the Department of Management at Virginia Tech. He has held positions as Visiting Assistant Research Professor at the Center for the Study of Values, University of Delaware, Visiting Fulbright Research Professor at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin, Germany, and Visiting Fulbright/Mazda Research Professor at Hiroshima Institute of Technology, Hiroshima, Japan. Dr. Wokutch teaches in the social issues in management and business ethics areas and he has led study abroad programs to Asia and Europe for over ten years focusing on international management. His current research interests focus on international business ethics and the global management of corporate social performance. He has written or edited several books on these topics including, Worker Protection, Japanese Style: Occupational Safety and Health in the Auto Industry, published by Cornell University's ILR Press in 1992 and Rising Above Sweatshops: Innovative Approaches to Global Labor Challenges, co-edited with Laura Hartman and Denis Arnold and published by Greenwood in 2003. He has also published articles in outlets such as The California Management Review, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, the Monthly Labor Review, the Journal of Business Ethics, the Academy of Management Executive, Business Ethics Quarterly, and Research in Corporate Social Performance and Policy. Professor Wokutch has served as Program Chair and Division Chair of the Social Issues in Management Division of the Academy of Management and he was the 2006 recipient of the Social Issues in Management Division’s Sumner Marcus Award for Outstanding Service. Dr. Wokutch was the first recipient of the Pamplin College of Business Award for Outstanding International Research in 2010 and in 2011 he received Virginia Tech’s Alumni Award for Excellence in International Research. Dr. Wokutch served as Head of the Department of Management from 2003-2008.
